    Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme

    Salient features of the scheme:- 1) This act guarantees that at least 100 days of employment will be provided in a financial year to families who are ready to do unskilled manual labor in rural areas. 2) Under this scheme, at least 50% of the expenditure is to be done through the Gram Panchayat system. The remaining work is to be done through other government systems. 3) It is to be seen that the ratio of unskilled and skilled work will be maintained at the Panchayat Samiti level in the ratio of 60:40. 4) It is necessary to register the families demanding work in the Gram Panchayat. After registration, the family will be given an employment card. The family registration will be for a period of five years. In the year 2012-13, 117262 laborers have been issued job cards. The job card renewal campaign is underway in the district and photos of 32000 thousand families have been taken for issuing job cards. 5) The principle of social audit will be followed by maintaining transparency in the implementation process. All information is to be made available at work, in the Gram Panchayat and on the website. 6) Each attendance sheet used for work under the scheme will have a unique number. 7) The rate of wages will be the same for male and female laborers on Magra Rohiya work. The current rate of wages is Rs. 145/- per day. Wages are paid based on the evaluation of the work. 8) Payment of wages through post/bank account. Wages are distributed within a maximum of 15 days after work is done. Accounts of 57293 laborers have been opened in the post office in the district. Also, accounts of 4799 laborers have been opened in nationalized banks. 9) There is a ban on hiring contractors for work. Also, there is a ban on using machinery for work that can be done by laborers. 10) Appointment of Ombudsman (for grievance redressal. (Shri. Prashant Dattatray Patwardhan, M. Lote, Tal. Khed. has been appointed as the Grievance Redressal Authority in our district. His mobile number is 9422052132) 11) 10% more wages if employment is provided within 5 km from the village, drinking water at work, first aid, facilities for taking care of children under 6 years of age brought along, as well as all patient services to the patient in case of injury and 50% of daily wage as a gratuity, in case of disability and death, a gratuity grant of up to Rs. 50,000 and concessions for family planning. Nature of work under the scheme:- 1) Water conservation and water conservation works: earthen dams, stone dams, compartment dams, afforestation dams, biological dams, continuous leveling, collective farm ponds, storage ponds, village ponds, underground dams, etc. Drought prevention works, tree plantation, afforestation etc. 2) Irrigation canal works, earthen canals, canal renovation. 3) Irrigation construction facilities for the land of Scheduled Castes/Tribes Indira Awas Yojana beneficiaries. 4) Renovation of traditional water bodies and desilting of ponds/wells. 5) Land development works. 6) Orchard cultivation 7) Nursery cultivation 8) Fertilizer production (Nadef fertilizer production, vermicompost production, pit for Sanjivika or Amritpana/pit for Azolla.) 9) Fish farming:- a) Fish farming in public places (seasonal). b) Construction of concrete embankments for drying fish in public places on the seashore. 10) Vegetable production. 11) Water and solid waste management a) Embankments to be constructed to block the ebb and flow of water on the sea. b) Absorption pit:- Public and Private c) Recharge Pit:- Public / Private 12) Toilets:- a) Private toilets. b) School toilets. c) Anganwadi toilets. d) Public toilets 13) Shed for poultry 14) Goat shed 15) Solid construction shed for animals / barn and tank for urine drainage. 16) Flood control and flood protection works. 17) Rural connecting roads works – Internal connecting roads in villages. 18) Other works approved by the Central Government in consultation with the State Government. 19) Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan.
