Zillah Parishad (M.I) Division
The geographical area of Pune district is 15,62,058 hectares. Out of this , the cultivable area is 11,56,200 hectares (74% ) . The district is divided into two parts in terms of climate. The western part is mountainous and has heavy rainfall. This area receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon season , but water scarcity is felt in this area from January to June. The eastern part is mainly a plateau region. Since the rainfall in this area is less, it is mainly prone to drought.
