    About Zilla Parishad,

    Pune is an important city in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Due to its progress in industry, information technology, economy and education, Pune is the second largest city in the state after Mumbai. Pune, which was once the empire of the Marathas, is known as the cultural capital of Maharashtra due to its rich historical, cultural and educational heritage. Many renowned educational institutions of the country are located in Pune and many students from all over the world are studying in them. That is why Pune is also known as the Oxford of the East or the home of knowledge. Today, Pune also has world-renowned IT companies; therefore, this city is also known as an IT hub. Pune is a city of intellectuals. Pune has a series of cultural programs like music, art, literature throughout the year. The saying “What is missing in Pune” is also famous. Pune district is surrounded by enchanting green hills, valleys, forests and rivers. Along with modernization, nature has also achieved a balance here.

    Pune Zilla Parishad was established in May 1962 under the guidance of Late Yashwantrao Chavan. Late Shankarrao Dasharathrao Ursal got the first honor of becoming the President of Pune Zilla Parishad. He held the post of President from 12/8/1962 to 11/8/1972. Since then, there have been 22 Presidents. Today, 13 Panchayat Samiti and 1386 Gram Panchayats are working for the development of rural areas. Pune Zilla Parishad has always been at the forefront in implementing any new scheme, campaign, and mission of the government. In the year 2012, Pune Zilla Parishad has been ISO 9001-2008 certified. In the year 2011-2012, Pune Zilla Parishad has been ranked second in the state of Maharashtra at the district level and Panchayat Samiti Baramati has been ranked second in the state of Maharashtra at the Panchayat Samiti level. And Gram Panchayat Kandli, T. Junnar has been ranked third in the state of Maharashtra at the Gram Panchayat level.
