    Secondary Education

    Under the School Education Department of the Government of Maharashtra, the Secondary Education Department of the Zilla Parishad is operational. The Education Officer for Secondary Education oversees both the Secondary Education Department and the Pay Unit. This Secondary Education Department manages all government-recognized private management secondary schools within the district including aided, unaided, and self-finance.

    This department administers these schools based on educational levels such as Grades 5 to 10, Grades 5 to 12, Grades 8 to 10, and Grades 8 to 12. The administration of these schools is carried out through the Secondary Education Department and its activities include the following

    1. Various schemes of the Central and State Government, such as scholarship programs, science exhibitions and the Inspire Award scheme are implemented through this department. These schemes are delivered to beneficiaries with the assistance of regional officers and staff working under this department.
    2. Following the directives of the government and higher offices, tasks related to school approvals, Pavitra Portal, Bindu Namavali, SARAL, and similar administrative work are carried out.
    3. Work related to the Grade 10 and Grade 12 examinations is conducted annually as per the guidelines of the Maharashtra State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Pune.
    4. The monthly salary of teachers in aided schools, arrears bills, and operations related to the Provident Fund are processed through the Pay Unit of this office.
    5. Various administrative tasks are undertaken by this office, including annual inspections of secondary and higher secondary schools, initial approval inspections, accreditation inspections, SEMI English approval inspections, self-financed approvals, and verification of typing institutions.
    6. Corrections to student caste, name and date of birth in school records are made based on the school’s recommendation as per entries in the admission and discharge register.
    7. In the era of information and technology, most of the department’s work is performed with the help of computers. Accordingly, various government decisions, circulars, and information about different schemes are made available to citizens through the website.
